How to Donate Used Books and Media
Books and media can be placed individually in the brown Friends of the Library donation bin located near the Drive-Up Window on the west side of the Main Library. Library staff are unable to assist with unloading bags and boxes of donations.
Bags and boxes of books or media will not be accepted inside the Main Library, including the Friendshop. The donation bin will be locked and unavailable during the weekends of book sales due to a lack of storage space. The donation bin will be locked and unavailable for donations on holidays when the library is closed and during the week between the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.
Bulk Book and Media Donations
If you have a large load of books or media to donate, please contact the Friends of the Library to set an appointment for them to assist you. A Friends volunteer will meet you at the Receiving Room door near the Drive-Up Window to receive your donations. To make an appointment, call the Friends at (248) 232-2234 or 2222 and leave a message.
Donation receipts are available at the Drive-Up Window when the library is open. No donations of books or media are accepted at the Westacres Branch.
